White Sand Beach: Koh Chang's busiest dining strip
White Sand Beach (Hat Sai Khao) is Koh Chang's busiest beach, with the most restaurants on the island. But finding halal food here is hard. Koh Chang has no large Muslim community like Krabi or Phuket. None of the island's main restaurant guides list a certified halal restaurant on White Sand Beach.
That doesn't mean Muslim travellers can't eat well. This guide covers the most Muslim-friendly options. They include Indian and Turkish restaurants where you can ask about halal meat, seafood restaurants, vegetarian choices and safe street food. It ends with practical tips for ordering.
| Restaurant | Type | Why it's Muslim-friendly | Price band |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taste of India | Indian | Chicken, lamb and many vegetarian dishes. Ask about halal meat | Not listed |
| Alaturka | Turkish | Lamb, chicken and beef kebabs, falafel and meze. Ask about halal meat | ฿฿ to ฿฿฿ |
| Beach Tango | Middle Eastern-style | Falafel and lamb burgers | ฿฿ to ฿฿฿ |
| Krua Jinda | Thai seafood | Fresh seafood in the evening | Not listed |
| Fresh Catch | Seafood | Small seafood restaurant | Not listed |
| Chef Koh Chang | Thai | Vegetarian selection | Not listed |

Taste of India is one of White Sand Beach's longest-running restaurants. I Am Koh Chang calls it a long standing favourite. It sits on the inland side of the main road, opposite Mac Resort. The Guide Koh Chang describes the food as good value, authentic and tasty.
Popular dishes include butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb vindaloo and paneer tikka masala, with naan and dal makhani on the side. There's a long vegetarian list too: aloo gobi, chilli paneer, choley and mixed vegetable sabji. I Am Koh Chang says portions are large and prices are reasonable.
Halal status: not stated. Ask whether the chicken and lamb are halal. If they're not, the vegetarian dishes are a good choice.
Hours: daily, 12:00 to 9:30pm (Wanderlog)

Alaturka is a Turkish restaurant near the south end of White Sand Beach. I Am Koh Chang places it about 100 m north of Makro and Grand View Resort. The Guide Koh Chang lists it in Grand View Plaza. It opened in 2018 as a new venture from the owner of Alaturka in Singapore. That restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2016, according to I Am Koh Chang.
Try the meze platter with hot bubble bread, hummus and baba ganoush. Or order the mixed grill of beef, lamb and chicken kebabs with rice and Turkish salad. There are also lamb chops, lamb shanks and moussaka. The Guide Koh Chang says a doner kebab station was recently added. Vegetarians can choose falafel, dips and vegetarian moussaka.
Halal status: not stated. Turkish food is naturally pork-free, but confirm whether the meat is halal.

If you have a scooter or don't mind a short songthaew ride, Tofu Kitchen in Kai Bae is fully vegetarian and vegan. It serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and shakes. With no meat on the menu, it's the easiest choice on the island for Muslim travellers. The Guide Koh Chang lists it at ฿฿ (under ฿500 per person).
Banana roti at the White Sand Beach night market
White Sand Beach's evening food market sets up on the roadside from about 5pm. Some of the easiest Muslim-friendly picks:
Avoid meat skewers unless you can confirm what they are. Many are pork.
I Am Koh Chang's restaurant guide gives these general prices.

|---|---|
| Curry with rice, or noodles | ฿40 to ฿70 |
| Shared Thai dish | ฿100 to ฿200 per dish |
