Koh Chang 4 Islands Snorkelling Tour: Boat Prices, Packages & Guide

Snorkelling tour boat at Koh Rang Marine Park, Koh Chang

Koh Rang Marine Park: the highlight of Koh Chang's 4 Islands tour

The 4 Islands snorkelling tour is the most popular day trip on Koh Chang. Boats leave Bang Bao pier in the island's south-west and head to Koh Rang Marine Park, a group of small islands with clear water, coral reefs and lots of fish. Most trips stop at three or four snorkel spots and a white sand beach, with lunch on board.

This guide compares the main operators and their baht prices. It also covers what's included, the park fee, a typical itinerary and how to choose the right boat.

⚠️ Honest note:
  • Mr Khai's price differs by source. The Guide Koh Chang's operator list shows ฿750 per person. Its dedicated Mr Khai review says ฿850. I Am Koh Chang lists ฿700. A 2023 reader comment mentions ฿950 with pickup from a resort further away. Expect around ฿700 to ฿950 and confirm when booking.
  • The islands vary by operator. The Guide Koh Chang describes Mr Khai's 4 Islands trip as Koh Yak, Koh Yak Lek, Koh Maisi and Monkey Rock. Discover Thailand's 4-stop tour lists Koh Rang, Koh Yak Yai, Koh Mapring and Koh Yak Lek. All of them snorkel in the Koh Rang area.
  • Several operators close in the rainy season. The Guide Koh Chang says Permpoon Sub is closed from 16 May 2026 to early November. Thaifun closes for the rainy season too. Others run only when the weather allows. If you're travelling in October, check before you book.
  • Some prices were only in other currencies. The Discover Thailand tour on Musement is priced in pounds only, so I haven't listed its price.
  • The Guide Koh Chang pages show no full year. Reader comments on the Mr Khai page are from 2023, but the operator list mentions 2026 closure dates.

3 Islands or 4 Islands?

White sand beach stop on Koh Wai

Beach stop at Koh Wai on a Koh Chang island tour

Choose the 4 Islands trip (Koh Rang) if:

  • You want the best coral and clearest water.
  • You don't mind the ฿200 park fee.
  • You're happy with a longer boat ride of about 1.5 hours.

Choose the 3 Islands trip (Koh Wai, Laoya, Klum) if:

  • You want a shorter ride of about 40 minutes.
  • You'd like more beach time.
  • You want to avoid the park fee.

Which operator should you choose?

Thai lunch served on a snorkelling boat

Lunch on board a Koh Chang snorkelling tour

  • Best value: Mr Khai, at about ฿750. The Guide Koh Chang calls it a favourite, with sheltered, fish-rich snorkelling.
  • Small groups and more comfort: a private wooden boat from ฿7,500.
  • Families: Thaifun's luxury cruise at ฿1,490, with a full buffet lunch and an on-board bar.
  • Short on time: Permpoon Sub's half-day speedboat at ฿1,000.

Tips for Malaysian travellers

  • Ask for a halal lunch. Musement's Discover Thailand listing offers halal and vegetarian meals on request. Ask other operators when you book.
  • Bring cash for the ฿200 park fee.
  • Rent fins for about ฿100. Most trips don't include them.
  • Take seasickness tablets. The Abroad Guide notes reviewers found the ride bumpy.
  • Book a weekday. Boats are busiest on weekends and public holidays.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Booking in October or May without checking whether the operator is running.
  • Forgetting cash for the park fee.
  • Expecting pickup from the north or east coast. Most transfers cover the west coast only.
  • Skipping reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard.
