Khao Sok is green and beautiful all year, but the weather changes a lot between seasons. The dry months bring sunny days, drier trails and access to Nam Talu Cave. The rainy months bring lush jungle, fewer crowds and cheaper rooms. They also bring heavy downpours, leeches and some closures.
This guide covers month-by-month weather, what's open when and the best time for your trip.
⚠️ Honest note:
- Rainfall figures differ by source. Weather2Travel gives about 20 mm for February and 409 mm for September. Visit Thailand Today (October 2026) gives about 33 mm and 450 mm. Both agree February is driest and September is wettest. I've used Weather2Travel's figures for the monthly table.
- Sources disagree on when the rainy season starts. Khaosok.com (updated 2023) says rain can fall from April to December, with the heaviest from June to November. Weather2Travel's data shows rainfall jumping in May. Visit Thailand Today calls May to November very wet.
- Sources disagree on tubing. Visit Thailand Today says river tubing and canoeing are only for the dry season, never after heavy rain. Couples Travel Stories says tubing is most popular when the water is high or after rain. Always check river conditions with your operator.
- Weather2Travel's "best month" scores are based only on temperature and sunshine, not rainfall. It rates December highest. Its own data shows December still gets about 89 mm of rain.
- Khaosok.com's temperature data is from 2019.
