How much a 3D2N Khao Sok trip really costs
Khao Sok is one of the cheaper nature trips in Thailand if you book locally. Three days and two nights is enough to hike the jungle, take a night safari and sleep on Cheow Lan Lake.
This guide breaks down every cost in baht. It covers transport from Surat Thani, village hotels, raft houses, food, tours and park fees. It ends with three sample 3D2N budgets, from backpacker to mid-range.
⚠️ Honest note:
- Flights aren't included. Fares from Malaysia change daily and are priced in ringgit. All the budgets here start from Surat Thani Airport.
- Some sources only give prices in other currencies. Couples Travel Stories gives hotel prices in Canadian dollars. Some village hotels on Travelfish and Khaosoknationalpark.org are priced in US dollars or euros. I've left those out and only used baht prices.
- Travelfish's walk-in hotel prices aren't dated. Our Jungle House at ฿480 and Art's Riverview Lodge at ฿1,200 may have changed.
- Raft house prices are planning ranges. Trip Unpacked (September 2026) says its prices are "not fixed official tariffs."
- Park fee rules conflict. Most sources say you pay separately at HQ (฿200) and the lake (฿300). GoAsia (updated October 2026) says that if you visit both zones on the same day, you pay once at the higher rate. My budgets assume you visit them on different days and pay both.
- Food costs are estimates. Passport & Stamps (updated September 2026) gives about ฿70 for a local meal and ฿100 for a restaurant meal. I've used those for meals not included in packages.
- All sample budgets are per person, for 2 people sharing.

Passport & Stamps gives these daily budgets for Khao Sok village:
- Low end: ฿500 to ฿800 a day (dorm, street food, few activities)
- Mid-range: ฿1,000 to ฿1,500 a day (private room, some activities)
- High end: ฿1,500 to ฿2,500 a day (private room, lake tour, restaurants)
A lake overnight adds a big one-off cost on top of these.
Money-saving tips
Book locally to save money in Khao Sok
- Book tours in the village, not online. Couples Travel Stories says tours booked through your hotel on arrival can cost half price or less.
- Choose a combo package. Smiley and Jungle Hostel packages bundle transport, meals and the lake night.
- Share a private longtail. At ฿2,000 per boat, it's cheaper per person in a group.
- Visit HQ late in the day. Some sources say a late-afternoon ticket is still valid the next morning.
- Bring halal snacks. Halal food is rare in Khao Sok. Snacks save money too.
Tips for Malaysian travellers
- Bring enough cash. Park fees and many restaurants are cash only. There are no ATMs on the lake.
- Tell your package operator you need halal, seafood or vegetarian meals when you book.
- Book raft houses early for November to April.
- Check what each package includes. Park fees are usually extra.
