Loh Dalum Beach, Koh Phi Phi: where the island parties
Koh Phi Phi has one of the liveliest party scenes in Thailand. Almost all of it fits into a small strip of sand and lanes on Phi Phi Don. If nightlife is the reason you're going, where you sleep makes a big difference.
Stay too far and you'll pay for longtail rides after dark. Stay too close and you won't sleep at all. This guide covers the best areas for nightlife and 8 party-friendly stays, from beach hostels to hotels with pools.
Loh Dalum Bay, Koh Phi Phi: the island's party beach
This is the north-facing bay behind Tonsai Village. Fire shows, beach bars, buckets and music run until the early hours. Most of the island's biggest party spots line this beach, including Slinky Beach Bar, Apache Beach Club and Stones Bar. Stay here if partying is your main plan. Skip it if you're a light sleeper.
Tonsai Village, Koh Phi Phi: bars a short walk from the pier
Tonsai sits between the pier and Loh Dalum. Bars such as Phi Phi Reggae Bar, Stockholm Syndrome and the Dubliner Irish Pub are here. You're a short walk from the beach parties but can still find quieter rooms on side lanes. It suits first-timers who want both nightlife and convenience.
The eastern end of Tonsai Bay has a slower vibe. Carlito's Bar and Hippies Bar run fire shows and DJs on the beach. It's a good middle ground if you want drinks and music without the chaos of Loh Dalum.
Long Beach is quiet and beautiful. It's a 20 to 25 minute walk or a longtail ride from the bars, so getting home late is a hassle.
| Bar | Area | Known for | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slinky Beach Bar | Loh Dalum | Mechanical bull, fire limbo, buckets | 7pm to 2am |
| Apache Beach Club | Loh Dalum | Large open-air disco, techno and house | 5pm until late |
| Stones Bar and Resto | Loh Dalum | Loud dubstep, fire dancers around 9pm | 8am to 2:30am |
| Ibiza Beach Club | Loh Dalum | Fire shows, resident DJs, pool parties | 24/7 |
| Sunflower Beach Bar | North end of Loh Dalum | Fire shows, acoustic live music | 11am to 11pm |
| Phi Phi Reggae Bar | Central Tonsai | Muay Thai fights | 6pm to 1am |
| Banana Bar | Tonsai rooftop | Sunset cocktails, fire shows | 11am to 2am |
| Carlito's Bar | Tonsai East | Reggae and house DJs, beach fire shows | 11am to 2am |

Blanco Beach Bar is one of the most famous party hostels on Koh Phi Phi. It sits right on Loh Dalum Beach, so the party starts at your door. The hostel runs a daily Blanco Boat Party with stops at Maya Bay. Nights bring beer pong and happy hours. There are pub crawls on Monday and Friday plus open bar on Wednesday and Saturday.
Guests praise the friendly staff and the beachfront location. One guest from England recommended the boat party and said "you get a lot for your money." Staff score 9.1 out of 10. Cleanliness and facilities score lower at 7.7. Some guests mention sandy rooms and basic bathrooms.
Music plays until about 2am and the bar stays open until about 3am. One guest also noted that at high tide you may need to wade along the beach with your luggage. Pick this if you want the full party package in one place.

Ibiza House is the name most people link with Phi Phi pool parties. It's a beachfront property on Loh Dalum Bay with dorms, private rooms and villas. All guests can use the Ibiza Pool. Private-room guests also get the Rawinanda Pool.
Hostelworld's guide says Ibiza House "IS the party scene." Guests get a free ticket to the pool party. The private rooms are described as spacious and peaceful, which suits couples.
Reviews are mixed, though. The review summary mentions cleanliness issues in some rooms and calls the pool parties "lackluster." Other guests liked the room upgrades and service. One tip suggests booking a villa to stay close to the night pool parties and fire shows. It's a fair walk from the pier with luggage. Pick this if pool parties are top of your list.

Stones Bar is for travellers who want to sleep above the party. The dorms sit directly on Loh Dalum, the party beach. The hostel has its own bar, nightclub and restaurant. It serves Thai food, breakfast, burgers and pancakes.
The nightly fire show and games start at 8:30pm. Music is very loud and switches off at 2:30am. The pool party next door on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays can also be noisy during the day.
Each bed has a power socket and a safety box. Payment is in cash on arrival, with a refundable āļŋ500 deposit. A guest from Canada gave it 9.7 out of 10 but warned, "If you don't like loud music this isn't the hostel for you." Its overall score is lower than the others on this list. Pick this only if you plan to party every night.

PP Princess Resort is a mid-range option for travellers who want comfort near the nightlife. It faces Loh Dalum Bay. All rooms are within about 30 metres of the sand. Tonsai Pier is about 300 metres away. The village centre is a 5-minute walk.
The resort has two pools. The main pool overlooks the beach and has a swim-up bar. Rooms have air conditioning, a minibar and a hot shower. A Phuket 101 review calls it "comfortable, well-maintained" and "a clear step above the budget guesthouses."
The same review warns that music from the Loh Dalum bars can be heard from rooms closest to the beach. Guests also say nearby nightlife noise can disrupt sleep. A āļŋ2,000 cash damage deposit is collected on arrival. Ask for a room set back from the beach if you want to sleep.

Phi Phi Island Cabana sits on the beach between Tonsai and Loh Dalum bays. That puts you close to both the bars and the pier. Location is its best score at 9.5 out of 10. One guest simply called it an "Unbeatable location."
The pool is a highlight, with sea views and plenty of loungers. Another guest described it as a "Spotless pool." The hotel also has a gym, a bar and a restaurant. Buffet breakfast costs āļŋ300 for adults.
Cleanliness scores lowest at 7.8. One guest noted it is "Close to loud music from town at night." Pick this if you want a proper hotel with a big pool and a short walk to the bars.

P.P. Casita is a laid-back hotel in central Phi Phi with simple rooms, bungalows and an outdoor pool. Hot breakfast is included. The hotel's own website lists it as adults only. Confirm before booking if you travel with kids.
It's close to restaurants, minimarts and clubs. Even so, reviewers describe the grounds as an oasis in busy Phi Phi. Saltwater Dreaming calls it "a convenience choice rather than a quiet island escape."
Some guests mention late-night noise from other guests and thin walls. Ask for a room away from the pool if you want quiet nights. Pick this if you want to walk to the bars and come back to a calm pool.

The Highdogs is a newer hostel on the path to the main viewpoint. It's about 200 metres from the centre. Bars, restaurants and beaches are all close by.
It scores high across the board, with staff at 9.8 and cleanliness at 9.7. The ground-floor lounge is the social heart, with sofas, a TV and a coffee and juice kiosk. Upstairs, the capsule dorm has blackout curtains for privacy and quiet.
Guests call it "really great price for value" and say "Everything was perfect clean, safe." It has no on-site bar, so the party happens elsewhere. Pick this if you want to party at night and actually sleep afterwards.

Hangover Chill & Hill is a social hostel with a swimming pool, a rare feature for Phi Phi hostels. It sits about 800 metres from Loh Dalum Beach, so the bars are an easy walk.

The review summary describes a social vibe that is "not overly focused on partying." Pick this if you want a pool and a social crowd, then walk down to Loh Dalum for the night.
